14 Day Big Heart Safari

   

Volunteering in Nothern Uganda, Gulu District.

 

Day 1: Arrival

 

Pick up from the Airport and drive you to your place of accommodation. Depending on your time of arrival, we shall later take on a tour around the capital city of Kampala, visiting the fresh fruit markets, Craft shops, the Kasubi tombs an ancestral burial ground for four kings of Buganda, Bahai temple the only one in Africa.
Back to our accommodation for dinner and overnight

Day 2-8 Volunteer project in Gulu

 

After Breakfast, we take a four hours drive to Gulu District, in northern Uganda.
We shall take these days helping the war traumatized children, orphans, the under privileged children in the communities by either teaching them English, reading stories, under taking extracurricular activities like sports, creative art work, singing and drama. All these activities will help in the children in their upbringing and make them know that someone out there loves them.
We may also equip some of the women and youth in these communities with skills aimed at generating them income. Please let us know what ideas you have from farming, craft making, to making liquid soap and candles, name it. All ideas are greatly welcome.
You may come along with any of the items you may feel fit to use during your time of volunteering.

   

Day 9: Murchison Falls National Park

 

Today we travel from Gulu to Murchison falls park. We shall have lunch in the park and proceed to the magnificent Top of the falls, the most powerful water rush in the world.
Dinner and overnight at Red Chilli rest camp.

Day 10: Murchison Falls National Park

 

Get up early for a morning game drive on the northern bank. Here we see the elephants, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes and more of the African game. Return to the lodge.
After lunch, take a 3 hour boat cruise on the Victoria Nile to the base of the falls. Here we shall see a very dense concentration of Hippos and crocodiles, waterbucks and a variety of water birds.
Return to the lodge for dinner and over night.

Day 11: Kampala - Jinja

 

After our breakfast we drive out of the park. We head to Jinja passing through the bustling streets of Kampala.
We shall have lunch enroute.
Great scenery of large tea and sugarcane plantations, the Mabira forest one of the biggest and oldest forests in Uganda, not missing on the Owen falls dam the major source of hydro electricity in Uganda.
Head to our accommodation the Nile guest house for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Jinja

 

Wake up to the refreshing breeze of the mighty River Nile. Have breakfast and go to the source of the Nile. Have a boat ride to the exact spot where the Nile is believed to start. After this we explore the area, visiting the craft shops and getting to know of great personalities that have come to this place.
After lunch we travel to Bujagali Falls are place of great rapids and famous for water rafting. We shall be entertained by local traditional dancers and also get mesmerized the local rafters swimming in the turbulent rapids only with the aid of plastic jerry cans.
Dinner and overnight at the Nile guest House.

Day 13: Jinja - Kampala

 

This is your day; select the activity of your choice in Jinja:
White water rafting
Bungee jumping
River board surfing
Quad biking
Or simply relaxing at the guest house,
Have a special dinner in Kampala
Accommodation and dinner at Guest house in Kampala.

Day 14: Departure

Transfer to the Entebbe airport.
